Uruguay wins Netherlands by 4-3 after a draw by 1-1 in a friendly


MONTEVIDEO, June 8, 2011 (AFP) – Uruguay’s national team won Netherlands by 4-3 in the penalty shoot-out this Wednesday, after a draw by 1-1 in a friendly match, occurred in the Centenário stadium, in Montevideo, which was a preparation for the South American to the 2011 Copa America.
Uruguay made his way to win against the powerful FIFA World Cup runner-up, that last year ended the ‘celeste’ dream of getting into the 2010 FIFA World Cup final.
Uruguay inaugurated the score in the final of the second half (81’), with a Liverpool’s Luis Suarez goal, but in the last minute another Liverpool’s player, Kirt Kuyt, tied the match with a head in a mistake of the defender Sebastián Eguren and the goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.
In the penalty shoot-out, for the Copa Confraternidade, the Uruguayan won by 4-3. The Dutch Robin van Persie lost, and the goalkeeper Muslera saved the Eljero Elia’s penalty.
