Colombia has trained four times in two days for the 2011 Copa America

COLOMBIA, June 14, 2011 – On Tuesday, 21 players of the Colombian Team had their practices divided in two stages, by alternating game movements and physical conditioning, in order to be in the best shape for the technical and tactical training. They will continue this for the next two weeks and this will provide the team with a base for the 2011 Copa America, in Argentina.
Teófilo Gutiérrez, the forward of the Racing Team, didn´t join the squad. Hi flight was canceled because of the Chilean volcano's eruption. His flight was rescheduled for today, Wednesday, and it will arrive in Bogota during the afternoon, unless restrictions are imposed.
Today the Colombian Team will have its third training day- a technical and tactical practice in the morning and another practice after lunch.
If they have usual training; it will be the same as Tuesday, and the players will be led by Hernán Darío Gómez. They are leaving Bogota to play a friendly match against Mexico in Pereira. The game will take place in a recently rebuilt stadium called Hernán Ramirez Villegas.
The goalkeeper Bréiner Castillo is the most recent player to join the Colombian team
Because of a petition made by ten national teams, CONMEBOL decided to modify the Copa America's rules and allow the teams to have 23 players instead of 22, with the condition that there will be three goalkeepers on the list. The solution was adopted yesterday and as CONMEBOL informed on their webpage, the change is already in the rules.
Following this decision the Independiente Medellín’s goalkeeper was chosen this Tuesday for the Colombian National Team and will meet them in Bogota. After getting back from an Independiente Medellín’s trip to Mexico the player will join the Colombian team next Friday.
