Doubtful Matías Fernández to play the friendly match against Estonia

SANTIAGO, June 16, 2011 (AFP) – The midfielder, Matías Fernández suffered a lesion during the Chilean national team training sessions. This is causing coach Claudio Borghi to doubt if he will be able to play in the friendly match against Estonia, this Sunday. The match will be a preparation for the ‘Roja’ to the 2011 Copa America.
Fernández, Sporting Lisboa’s player, injured himself in a training match against the Under-18 of Audax Italiano, according to local sources.
Therefore, Fernández will not be able to participate in Sunday’s friendly game against Estonia, one of the Chile’s preparation matches before the continental tournament. The last confrontation, on June 23, will be against Paraguay, and it is also doubtful Fernández will be able to play.
For the match against Estonia two players are already out: Jorge Valdivia and Humberto Suazo, both injured, but they’re expected to play in the match against Paraguay.
The Chilean line up against Estonia would be: Claudio Bravo, Pablo Contreras, Waldo Ponce, Gonzalo Jara, Mauricio Isla, Gary Medel, Arturo Vidal, Jean Beausejour; Matías Fernández (Luis Jiménez), Alexis Sánchez and Esteban Paredes.
Chile is in Copa America’s Group C, with Uruguay, Mexico and Peru. The first match will be on July 4, against Mexico, in the San Juan city.
