‘Tacuara’ Cardozo has not been capped top lay the 2011 Copa America


ASUNCION, June 13, 2011 (AFP) – The Benfica’s top scorer Oscar Cardozo is excluded of the squad that the coach Gerardo Martino will bring to Argentina to play the 2011 Copa America.
“There is no special motive, I just consider that in this moment there are others better”, said the Argentinean coach after announcing the 31 players list, which only 22 will be selected to play a friendly match against Chile, next June 23, and the Copa America.
“There is no explanation except it was just sportive reason. I think the others are better”, completed.
For some specialists, Martino started with these exclusions a plan to renew the squad to prepare to the 2012 FIFA World Cup, in Brazil.
Other players that stayed out of the list are: Aldo Bobadilla (goalkeeper), Julio César Cáceres (defender), Carlos Bonet (left defender), Denis Caniza (defender), Claudio Morel Rodríguez (left defender) y Rodolfo Gamarra (forward).

The 31 player list that started working this Monday is:
Goalkeeper: Justo Villar, Diego Barreto, Joel Silva and Roberto Fernández.
Defender: Paulo Da Silva, Marcos Cáceres, Antolín Alcaraz, Darío Verón, Aureliano Torres, Miguel Samudio, Iván Piris, Elvis Marecos, Luis Cardozo and Ismael Benegas.
Midfielder: Víctor Cáceres, Cristian Riveros, Néstor Ortigoza, Jonathan Santana, Enrique Vera, Osmar Molinas and Edgar Barreto.
Forward: Hernán Pérez, Roque Santa Cruz, Osvaldo Martínez, Orlando Gaona, Nelson Haedo, Marcelo Estigarribia, Lucas Barrios, Federico Santander, Pablo Zeballos and Julián Benítez.
