Peru draws goalless with Japan in a friendly with Farfán's return

NIIGATA, June 1, 2011 (AFP) - The Peruvian football team continued with their preparation for the Copa America in July with a goalless draw (0-0) in Japan in a friendly match that served to open the Kirin Cup, where happened in the expected return of Jefferson Farfan for South American team. 

The Schalke 04 striker, put away by the Uruguayan coach Sergio Markarian for indiscipline since October 2010, sealed their reconciliation playing that match in Niigata, where his team will face the second and final opponent in the tournament, the Czech Republic. 

The Peruvians had a good image in their first match on Japanese soil against the Asian champions, and coming to have better chances to score, still with good views since the arrive the 'Magician' Markarian. 

The South American team had two great chances in the final moments, first with a shot by Raul Ruidíaz (88), who shot a ball which hit the post, and later on with a header by Luis Ramirez in front of the goal (89), which Japanese goalkeeper saved providentially. 

Peru, which had been the champion of the Kirin Cup on two occasions, along with Belgium in 1999 and sharing the title with the UAE in 2005, plans the dispute of this tournament in Japan to prepare for the Copa America, where they will face Uruguay, Chile and Mexico in the first stage.
