“Brazil will play the Copa America thinking about the 2014 World Cup” said Mano Menezes

RIO DE JANEIRO, June 20, 2011 (AFP) – The Brazilian national team will play in July in the Copa America in Argentina, but with their eye on a greater goal: the 2014 FIFA World Cup, in Brazil, at least according to the coach Mano Menezes.
“I am not worried about the Copa America because it is not a World Cup Qualifier. We will use all opportunities to prepare for the World Cup”, said Mano Menezes on Monday in a press conference in Rio de Janeiro.
When analyzing the opponents facing Brazil in the first stage of the Copa America, Menezes warned about the match against Venezuela. “Theoretically, Paraguay is the most difficult [to beat] of the three, but this doesn’t mean that the others will not be hard. The first game will be against Venezuela, and this could be the hardest moment”.
Menezes avoided evaluating which team would be the public’s favorite team in the Copa America, and limited his comments to saying that those playing at home have an advantage. “We can say that Argentina will be a favorite because they will play at home, the same way Brazil would be a favorite in the 2014 FIFA World Cup”.
