The Under-22 Mexican National Team is coaching to play Copa America 2011. Last Sunday, they flew from Las Vegas to San Diego, California, in the United States. The team played a friendly match against Venezuela (lost by 0-3) and will play, in Tijuana, another friendly game against the Colombian Club Independiente Medellín.
In the afternoon, the team trained in town for the first time. They were coached by Guillermo Hernández, the physical therapist. The training venue was San Diego’s University. The squad was informed that the athletes: Erick Torres, Néstor Araujo, Diego Reyes and Jorge Enríquez would join the team. They were the Under-20 players who participated in the International Tournament of Toulon, in France, and now hope to get a position to play in the squad during the Cup.
“It is a dream to be playing the Copa America, and I am really proud to be here, in such a complete and high-level squad. We are all here for a reason, so I must struggle to be called-up,” said Jorge Enríquez.
The team will be in San Diego until Tuesday. Afterwards, they are going to Tijuana to play a friendly match against Independiente Medellín.
