Paris, March 9th 2011 (AFP) - The Argentine team climbed to fourth position and overtook Brazil (5th), on the ranking classification of the International Football Federation (FIFA), according to a list released on this Wednesday. The Spanish team continues to top the rankings and leads.
The selection “Albiceleste” took advantage of the victory over Portugal, by 2 x 1, and Brazil’s defeat to France in Paris by 1 x 0, to reach the fourth place.
Now, Argentina occupies the position of best South American team, according to FIFA’s classification. The difference for Brazil is only one point, because it adds 1412 points, 1411 against Brazilians.
Already Uruguay, the third South American team in the Top-10, remained in seventh place with 1172 points.
Among the selections that have risen most in the ranking, are Peru (59th), which climbed nine placements, and the Equator team, which after climbed five places, took 49th place.
