Mexico announces first call-up in preparation for Copa America 2011

Mexico, (AFP) The Mexican national team announced on Thursday the list of players called-up, all under 23 years, for the first preparation for the Copa America tournament to be held during July 1st to 24th in Argentina.

Edgar Pacheco (Atlas striker), Néstor Calderón (Toluca striker) and Marco Fabián (Guadalajara midfielder) emphasize the list of 22 players who will be concentrated during March 13rd to16th at the Mexican capital, as announced by the Mexican Federation of Football in a statement.

The Mexican coach, Jose Manuel "Chepo" de la Torre did not call-up U-23 players who play in European football, as Carlos Vela (West Bromwich, England), Giovani Dos Santos (Racing, Spain) and his brother Jonathan Dos Santos (Barcelona, Spain).

There is no friendly match scheduled for the period of concentration.

Mexico will participate in the Copa America with a team of players under 23 years plus five older players, as reported by the Mexican Federation. The Mexican team will face Chile, Peru and Uruguay in Group C.
