Mexico includes Vela and Dos Santos in the pre-list to Copa America


MEXICO, 24th May 2011 (AFP) – The Mexicans Carlos vela, Arsenal’s forward and Jonathan dos Santos, Barcelona’s midfielder from Spain,  were included in a pre-list with 26 players  who will compete in Copa America, announced the  Mexico’s Football Federation on this Monday.
The Mexican team will face four games against Venezuela ( June 11st),  Chivas USA (June 15th ), Colombia (June 22th) and Equator (June 25th ).
Mexico will play Copa America in Argentina, the first day until July 24th, with an under-22 team, reinforced with five players with more than 22 years, whereas the main team will play Copa Ouro, commanded by Concacaf.
Also, this sub-22 team will be coached by Luis Fernando Tena, assistant coach of Jose Manuel de La Torre, who will be with the maisn team in Copa Ouro.
Within this pre-list, draws attention Marco Fabián, vice-champion of Copa Libertadores 2010 with Chivas Guadalajara; Fernando Navarro who played the Club World Cup 2009 with Atlante; Paul  Aguilar who played for Mexico the World Cup in South Africa and Hiram Mier, champion of the Concacaf Champions League with Monterrey.
Also highlight the midfielder David Cabrera and the forward Javier Cortéz, who on Sunday scored the biggest Mexican League with the Pumas.
On this call list were included five players who have more than 22 years old. The goalkeeper Luis Michel, the defenders Jonny Magallón and Paul Aguilar, and the forwards Rafael Márquez and Oribe Peralta.
June 27th is the deadline for the 12 teams to submit their final lists to Conmebol for Copa America, in which Mexico will compete in Group C with Uruguay, Chile and Peru.

Defenders: Jonny Magallón (Guadalajara), Miguel Ponce (Guadalajara), Darvin Chávez (Atlas), Néstor Vidrio (Atlas), Hiram Mier (Monterrey), Néstor Araujo (Cruz Azul), Paul Aguilar (Pachuca), Israel Jiménez (Tigres), Fernando Navarro (Atlate).
Midfielders: Jorge Enríquez (Guadalajara), Marco Fabián (Guadalajara), Edgar Pacheco (Atlas), Javier Aquino (Cruz Azul), Jorge Hernández (Jaguares), David Cabrera (Pumas), Diego Reyes (América), Jonathan dos Santos (Barcelona B/Spain).
Forwards: Erick Torres (Guadalajara), Rafael Márquez (Morelia), Javier Cortés (Pumas), Néstor Calderón (Toluca), Oribe Peralta (Santos), Carlos Vela (Arsenal/England).
