Friendly between Spain and Venezuela moves to June 7


CARACAS, May 4, 2011 (AFP) The friendly between Spain and Venezuela will be held on June 7 in Puerto La Cruz (northwest), said on Wednesday the football associations of both national teams.

The Royal Spanish Federation had initially announced last week that the date of the meeting would be on June 1 and also that Spain would not use the FIFA calendar, but its president, Angel Maria Villar, who was visiting Caracas, confirmed on Wednesday the new date of the friendly.

"On June 1 there is no possibility now that this date is not a FIFA date for international matches (...) and we decided to play in June 7th, " Villar told reporters accompanied of the president of Venezuela Football Federation, Rafael Esquivel.

The exchange date will also allow the "La Roja" to have the players who play in FC Barcelona, who will play the final of the UEFA Champions League on May 28.

"The team will come with the full potential, "said Villar.

Spain will play a friendly against the USA in Boston on June 4, before traveling directly to Puerto La Cruz.

"We chose Puerto La Cruz for its infrastructure. It's easier to land the airplane of the Spanish team and the excellent conditions that are at the Jose Antonio Anzoategui stadium, "said the president of the organizer company of the the Evenpro party, in Santiago Otero.

La "Roja" is currently the group leader l of qualifying for Euro 2012, with a good advantage. Their next game on the road to play the continental tournament in Poland and Ukraine will be on September 6, against Liechtenstein.

The match will serve to La Vinotinto as training for the Copa America.
